Letter to the editor: Sad about 73 outcome

Posted

Coming from a family of teachers in Colorado, we are saddened and heartbroken about the lack of support Colorado voters gave to Colorado public schools, educators and students in our state in voting down Amendment 73. Had it passed, the funding that would have gone to our schools could have made the difference in attracting and retaining quality teachers, lowering class sizes, improving much needed technology and supplies, as well as providing adequate salaries to teachers so they can afford to live in our state. Instead we got slapped in the face.
When will Colorado begin to care about public education in our communities? Maybe when our teachers start crossing state lines to teach in districts that pay twice as much.

Arvada
