Letter: Seniors should be supported

Posted

I am requesting that your newspaper publish an editorial urging your state's U.S. Senators to preserve in the repeal / replace of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions in the ACA that have strengthened Medicare including, Medicare beneficiaries' preventive screenings; closing the Medicare Part D "donut hole," and rewarding health plans, doctors and other medical care providers who improve the quality of health care.

The ACA provides catastrophic coverage for Americans under age 65, but it was not provided for seniors age 65 and older. The catastrophic coverage provided by the ACA should also include Americans age 65 and older. Also, Americans age 65 and older should be protected from being denied health care coverage due to a preexisting health condition.

Kenneth DeBey,

Lakewood
