At least 4,000 Jefferson County students won't have to worry about how they are getting their school supplies this year, thanks to the Action Center.
From Aug. 10 to Aug. 15, the Action Center, a human-services nonprofit headquartered in Lakewood, provided school supplies to students of low-income or those who are experiencing homelessness in Jefferson County. According to a release from the Action Center, more than 3,100 students in Jeffco Public Schools are facing some sort of homelessness.
This year's event enforced social distancing guidelines and limited one person per household into the distribution site to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Supplies were distributed at Stevens Elementary in Wheat Ridge.
