There is a new option for free COVID-19 tests in Golden.

COVIDCheck Colorado, a COVID-19 testing enterprise operated by the Gary Community Investments philanthropic organization, has opened its testing sites, including one in Golden. The testing sites were previously open to Colorado teachers and educators who are employed by the state's school districts. However, access has been expanded through a new partnership with the state.

How it works

The Golden test site is located at 1922 Jones Road on the Colorado School of Mines campus. Tests can be scheduled at all of the Gary Community Investments testing sites, including the one in Golden, at covidcheckcolorado.org. Testing is free to anyone with no insurance or ID needed.

Testing is administered by trained medical professionals using an FDA-approved PCR nasal swab. The swab is inserted about 1.5 inches into each nostril for about 10 seconds. Individuals receive results in 36-72 hours via email and/or text, depending on the information they provide during registration. Those who test positive will also receive a phone call from a doctor or a nurse to provide guidance and support on next steps and best practices for keeping others around them healthy.

The Golden site is open from 7-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7-9 a.m. and noon to 5 p.m. on Friday.
