Staff report
The City of Golden is accepting applications to serve on its Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force.
Applications are open through March 29. City officials will select up to 10 members, including community members and city employees, to serve on the task force.
The Golden City Council recently adopted a five-year REDI Action Plan. It outlines four goals:
- Create a culture of inclusion and belonging throughout the community of Golden;
- Increase access to services and resources for diverse community members;
- Foster an organizational culture and environment within the City of Golden that’s committed to racial equity, diversity and inclusion; and
- Expand economic opportunities for diverse businesses.
The action plan also outlines several strategies for achieving each goal over the next five years.
The REDI Task Force will create an implementation plan using the goals and strategies outlined in the action plan. It will also research best practices from other cities and create a training plan for the task force members, the larger community and city staff.
REDI Task Force members should be prepared to serve at least one year. Applicants should be a Golden resident, a city employee or have a connection to the city.
The task force meetings will be a hybrid format of online and in-person, and the city can provide translation services, childcare support, technological assistance, and other support for participants.
The application and information is available online in English and Spanish at guidinggolden.com/striving-for-racial-equity.
