FirstBank has donated $5,000 to the Lakewood-based Developmental Disabilities Resource Center (DDRC) in honor of March Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

The $5,000 gift will enable DDRC to help individuals and families address crisis needs through the organization’s “25th Hour Fund.” The emergency fund has been used to help a disabled man replace his stolen commuter bicycle so he could keep his job, or helping to pay for the security deposit for a struggling family with a disabled member to make a necessary move.

Barbara Moritzky, The Developmental Disability Foundation board treasurer thanked FirstBank in the groups’ joint statement.

“This generous donation will enable DDRC and the DD Foundation to help many individuals and families who often have nowhere else to turn in an emergency.”
