Golden Bike Cruise ends season with zombies

Zombies and other characters both scary and cute hoped on their bicycles one last time at the final Golden Bike Cruise of the season, held Sept. 29 in Downtown Golden.

The bike cruise has been a staple in Golden for the past 15 years, originally run by Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza. For the past five years, Golden Community Commons has been organizing the event.

The cruise is on the last Tuesday of the month, May through September. After all cruises were canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, this season took on a low-key approach.

“We didn’t do much advertising, just word of mouth and Facebook,” said Peter Ewers, president of Golden Community Commons. “We weren’t sure with Covid, so we purposefully kept it low key so we could cancel it if we needed to.”

This year also brought on a new location for the event, being held at the Celebration Plaza next to Calvary Episcopal Church.
