This year, Labor Day weekend looked a little more like the Fourth of July.
After poor weather postponed Golden's annual Independence Day fireworks show, city officials rescheduled it for Sept. 1 to coincide with the summer's final Movies & Music in the Park night.
Around 7 p.m., the band Ghost Town Drifters played to a growing crowd at Lions Park as the sunlight slowly faded from the sky. Then, around 8:30, the fireworks show kicked off, dazzling Goldenites and visitors all over the city.
Considering Taste of Colorado — Denver's biggest Labor Day weekend event — was canceled this year, locals shared online how the rescheduled fireworks show felt like a fun way to celebrate summer's end.
Afterward, folks stuck around Lions Park to watch "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," as Golden leaves summer behind and starts preparing for the spooky season.
