Golden generosity: Local nonprofits highlighted on Colorado Gives Day

Colorado Gives Day, which took place on Dec. 8 statewide, hit a record amount of generosity this year. Across the state, 123,999 donations amounted to $28.4 million raised to benefit Colorado’s nonprofit organizations.

Locally, the Golden Civic Foundation, Golden Chamber of Commerce and Golden Cultural Alliance had a well-attended event on Dec. 8 for Goldenites to learn more about local nonprofits.

Here’s a glimpse at some them:

Spark City Children’s Museum

Spark City is an emerging children’s museum to be located in Jefferson County. In May, a mobile museum is expected to be up and running.

Colorado Mountain Club

Colorado Mountain Club offers outdoor and mountain activities for people of all ages and skill levels. The club has clinics, classes, youth education and conservation programs.

Leadership Golden

Leadership Golden provides community education through a series of seminars that facilitate opportunities for participants to increase knowledge of local government, education, businesses and the community of Golden.

The Golden Backpack Program

The Golden Backpack Program helps feed local children in need by providing enough food for a child for the entire weekend. The program works with 10 Golden schools.
