Golden is a wonderful place to celebrate the holidays and the community offers many fun events to get you in the spirit of the season.
From shopping to events with Santa, here is a highlight of some of the holiday-themed events that Golden has to offer.
Small Business Saturday
Golden will be participating in the 10th annual Small Business Saturday on Nov 30. You can get out and support the places you love with the people you love.
Visit Golden’s Shop Small Welcome Station, located in front of the Visitors Center at 1010 Washington Ave., will be giving out tote bags and warm beverages.

Shop the Fringes
Coinciding with Small Business Saturday, a number of local businesses have teamed up to offer a “Shop the Fringes” coupon card during the holiday shopping season.
Contact the participating businesses to learn more: Earth Sweet Botanicals, Truly BoHotique, Cheese Ranch, Cafe 13, Taspens, The Tributary, Period Six, Prana Tonic, Runner’s High, Vaia Salon, Golden Laser Aesthetics, Golden Rock Shop and Gold Mine Cupcakes.
Holiday Art Market
A holiday shopping tradition for 45 years, Foothills Art Center’s opened on Nov. 18 and will run through Dec. 29. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
This year’s Holiday Art Market features range of handcrafts including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, paintings, woodworking, photography and more. All are made by Colorado artists and purchases support Foothills Art Center and local artists.

Golden High School Holiday Bazaar
The community is invited to shop for unique gifts and holiday décor made by local artists from 8 a.m. to noon on Dec. 7 in Golden High School’s cafeteria, 701 24th St. in Golden. Parking and admission are free. The event supports the Golden High School PTA.
The second annual Christkindl Market takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Denver Kickers Clubhouse, 16776 W. 50th Ave., in Golden. The event will feature musicians, vendors and food and drink. Visit www.denverkickers.com to learn more.
Coda Brewing Company, 15965 South Golden Road, is offering a Holiday Bazaar from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 7. Gift ideas will include vintage ski onesies from Retro Colorado, custom hats, local jewelry, photos, bikes, records and more. Contact the brewery at 303-600-8591 to learn more.
Second annual Holiday Market
Mountain Toad Brewing will host a variety of products from local businesses and artists in a one-stop-shop from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 8. Mountain Toad Brewing is located at 900 Washington Ave. Golden. Christmas Shop and Swap

Miners Alley Playhouse
Miners Alley Playhouse, 1224 Washington Ave., in Golden has a couple of holiday theater productions this year.
Its theater’s comical adaptation of the classic “A Christmas Carol” is being offered Nov. 29 to Dec. 23.
The Miners Alley Playhouse Children’s Theater presents “The Story of the Nutcracker” from Nov. 30 to Dec. 21.

A Consort of Christmas Carols
The Golden Concert Choir’s A Consort of Christmas Carols takes place from 4-5:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church, 7530 W. 38th Ave.

Jefferson Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Concert
Jefferson Symphony Orchestra will perform its annual Holiday Concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Green Center on the Colorado School of Mines campus, 924 16th St. in Golden.

Once Upon a Colorado Christmas
The community is invited to attend Once Upon a Colorado Christmas — a holiday dinner live theater experience — at the Buffalo Rose, 1119 Washington Ave., in Golden.
The program begins at 7:30 p.m. and is offered on Dec. 20, 21 and 22.
The event is family-friendly.

Candlelight Walk and holiday parades
Golden’s Candlelight Walk is a favorite holiday tradition for 30 years. This year, it takes place on Dec. 7.
The walk will begin at about 6:30 p.m. outside of the Foothills Art Center on 15th and Washington. Participants will proceed down Washington Avenue to the Golden Visitor’s Center. Candles will be available for purchase, or you’re welcome to bring your own. The Golden Lions Club will be serving free warm cider.
Additional and supplemental events take place in many local businesses as well as the Golden Library, Golden History Museum and Golden History Park.
The community is invited to attend Golden’s holiday parades on Dec. 7, 14 and 21. The parades begin at 11 a.m., and the route is along Washington Avenue from 11th to 13th streets in historic downtown Golden. Each parade offers different attractions.
Many local businesses will be offering events for shoppers, families and parade-goers on parade days. For example, Avenue Gifts will host Santa from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Golden Hayride will be offering free rides with caroling around downtown Golden between 11:30 a.m. and noon. Pick up and drop off is at Gold Mine Cupcakes, 700 12th St. #130, in Golden.

Events with Santa
North Pole Golden: U.S. Postal Box for Santa
The community is invited to drop off their letters to Santa Nov. 30 through Dec. 14 at the Golden Visitors Center, 1010 Washington Ave. To receive a return letter from Santa, include a return address on the letter. For more information, call 303-279-3113.
Breakfast with Santa
The Golden Chamber of Commerce’s Breakfast with Santa takes place from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at Calvary Church, 1320 Arapahoe St. in Golden. Space is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance. The last day to purchase tickets is Nov. 29. To purchase tickets, visit https://goldenchamber.org.
Santa at the Station
Santa will be making a special stop at the Colorado Railroad Museum, 17155 W. 44th Ave., in Golden from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 7, 14 and 21.

Pictures with Santa
The Golden Police Department is hosting Santa from 5:30-8 p.m. Dec. 11 in City Council Chambers at Golden city hall, 911 10th St. Golden Police officers will be collecting letters to Santa, and the event offers family-friendly crafts and holiday treats. Golden Elf Academy
This year’s Golden Elf Academy takes place on Dec. 15. Two time slots are available — 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon. It takes place at Marquez Hall, 1600 Arapahoe St., on the Colorado School of Mines campus in Golden.
Put on by the Golden Hayride in partnership with Gold Mine Cupcakes, the Golden Elf Academy offers children the opportunity to decorate a cupcake with Mrs. Claus, learn an elf Christmas dance, play in the Elf Kazoo Band and create arts-and-crafts with Santa’s elves.
The event is recommended for children ages 10 and younger.
