Jeffco Clerk and Recorder commemorates Pride Month

Posted

The Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder’s office celebrates  Pride this month with limited edition rainbow seals for marriage licenses and souvenir pens for signing. The office that issues every marriage license for Jeffco provides this option while supplies last. The Pride license is available to any couple getting married in June.

This inclusive commemoration of marriage reflects Jeffco Clerk and Recorder Amanda Gonzalez’s goal to protect marriage rights for everyone.

“I’m proud to serve as the first out LGBTQ Clerk in Jefferson County, and it’s a privilege to protect the right to marry here, no matter who you are or who you love," Gonzalez said.

A spokesperson for the Clerk’s office added that “couples not interested in the Pride seal are welcome to get the regular, raised county seal embossed instead.”

The seals and pens are only available upon request, so you must ask for the Pride Month marriage license. The licenses allow for open support of the LGBTQ community by allies as well.

“Recently we’ve heard a lot about stores hiding their Pride sections, but in the Jeffco Clerk’s office, we’re proud to celebrate love in technicolor with the LGBTQ community and their allies," Gonzalez said.
