Have you been noticing the ads on television in the last couple of weeks have been focusing on things like jewelry and gifts for women? Well, that can only mean one thing. Some holiday is coming up that might require a gift. But the one thing most of this round of ads has in common is that they don’t mention exactly when the upcoming holiday is happening and most of them neglect to even mention what holiday they’re targeting. So what gift giving holiday happens in May? It’s Mother’s Day and it’s on Sunday, May 8, this year. So now you know and have a few days left to do a little shopping.
But if you are female you can actually get a jump on that by attending Golden’s Ladies Only Shopping Tour (LOST) that’s happening in downtown Golden tonight, Thursday, May 5, from 4-8 p.m.
So how does it work? First, you need to buy a bracelet at one of the designated businesses downtown that are selling them. They cost $12.50 and include an area map plus a coupon book. Then you get to wander around town and get discounts and free fun samples, tasty treats or a beverage from over 30 shops and businesses that are participating.
So, here’s a list of places that will be selling the bracelets.
Avenue Gifts, Buffalo Rose Bar & Events Center, Creekside Jewelers, Golden Chamber of Commerce, Holidaily Brewing Company, Lucky Star Ranch, Mary Kay, Meyer Hardware, The Silver Horse, Truly Bohotique.
And here’s a list of all the merchants participating.
Art on the Brix , Avenue Gifts , Avenue Vision, Baby Doe's Clothing, Barrels & Bottles Brewery, The Clothes Mine, Creekside Jewelers, Earth Sweet Botanicals, Gene Bauer Goldsmith, Golden Chamber of Commerce, Golden City Brewery, Golden Goods, Golden Himalaya, Golden Sweets, Golden Women In Business, Gold Mine Cupcakes, Goozell Yogurt, The Green Paw & Spa, Holidaily Brewing Company, Into the Mystic Healing & Arts, Lucky Star Ranch, Mary Kay, Meyer Hardware, Olde Town Golden Realty, PranaTonic, Red Wagon, The Silver Horse, Spinster Sisters, Spirits in the Wind Gallery, Symmetry 360 Massage and Truly Bohotique.
That should keep you busy for a while. Bring your mother, daughter, sister or round up your girlfriends and have a great “girl’s night out.”
Guys — beer should still be available in your fridge and there has to be a baseball game on somewhere.
STEM Girls: Circuits and Electricity
We all know that girls are awesome. But, as girls grow up, they’re rather under-represented in science careers, and sometimes actually discouraged from even showing an interest in these occupations.
The Golden Library is doing it's part to change this all that by offering STEM events just for girls where all ages are invited to play and learn in an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere. This event is led by Bell Middle School’s Girls in iSTEM Club who will be exploring the basics of electricity and circuits.
It’s going to be happening on Saturday, May 7, at 4 p.m. at the Golden library, located at 1019 10th Street here in Golden.
For more information and to register call them at (303) 235-5275. It’s suitable for girls of all ages but they do ask you register in advance.
