Seniors and adults facing challenges with aging parents are invited to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office’s 9th annual Senior Law Day.
Seminars and workshops are planned on topics such as Medicare/Medicaid, estate planning, wills/trusts, end-of-life issues, powers-of-attorney, probate, conservatorship, guardianship, investment fraud and gun safety/regulations.
County commissioners will present at one of the workshops, and attorneys and representatives from a variety of community resources will be available to answer individual questions. The “Ask-an-Attorney” feature offers free 15-minute consultations.
Also featured this year is a free drug take-back. This is a great way to dispose of drugs cluttering your medicine cabinets. Sharps or liquids will not be accepted.
Senior Law Day is June 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Jefferson County courthouse, 100 Jefferson County Parkway, in Golden. Registration is $10 and includes a continental breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, and the new Colorado Senior Law Handbook, a publication of the Colorado Bar Association. Payment must made by check or money order. Cash cannot be accepted.
“Our population is aging and older adults will be facing complicated issues. This is a great opportunity for seniors and for any adult who has a parent,” District Attorney Pete Weir said in a news release. “This information can change the quality of life for seniors and their adult children.”
