In and age where finally, the nation is pushing racial equality, why am I seeing very little change? I viewed the most recent newspaper edition, and this is what I saw or haven’t seen:

28 candidates for public had one Hispanic and only one male black. Most, if not all the articles are by non-minorities. One article on Hispanics is by a non-Hispanic who doesn’t live in Jefferson county. I can’t recall any article on just a common minority in Arvada.   Zero articles on Hispanic struggles, discrimination, equal job opportunities or that 90% of constructions jobs are filled by Hispanics. We cut your grass, do most landscaping, make most hotel beds and cook most Mexican food. If the Hispanics went on strike, the economy would tank. Most if not all leadership positions in Arvada government are non-minorities,  even though 15% of us are minorities. Black racial equality is the focal point in American today.  What about Hispanics, Asians, and Indians? I see whites in the suburbs protesting for “Black Lives Matter.”  Then, they go back to their lives. Any future mention of BLM is bragging to their friends how they have protested. In reality, they do not know the real struggles of minoritie. Brown people (Hispanics) are not counted as a race according to the census.

There must be articles on minorities in each paper so all people know of the everyday racial inequality minorities experience. Not just the feel good stories. We must remember that non-minorities cannot walk in the shoes of minorities.
