A 49-year-old man is in custody after a string of burglaries and other crimes in north Golden on Sept. 18.

David Nickolas Delfino was arrested on suspicion of burglary, menacing, trespassing, theft, criminal mischief, obstructing a peace officer and other crimes.

According to a Sept. 19 city press release, the suspect reportedly committed several crimes between 5-10 p.m. Sept. 18 in the neighborhoods north of Highway 58, south of First Street and west of Washington Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.

During the evening, the Golden Police Department received several reports of burglary and trespassing. Late in the evening, a resident chased the suspect. GPD was notified and set up a perimeter. Police also issued a LookoutAlert to the surrounding neighborhood, asking residents to shelter in place during the pursuit, the press release confirmed.

A K-9 unit from the Adams County Sheriff's Office assisted and located the suspect hiding in bushes in the 500 block of Cheyenne Street. Officers ordered the suspect to surrender, and when he reportedly refused, the K-9 was sent in and bit the suspect on the shoulder. He then surrendered and was taken into custody.

The city press release stated GPD officers reportedly recovered stolen property,  including credit cards and tennis shoes, found on Delfino's person.

Those who live or work in the area are asked to check their property and vehicles, and report any stolen or missing items to GPD. Those with Ring cameras and similar devices are asked to review their footage for suspicious activity on Sept. 18. Golden Police Dispatch can be reached at 303-384-8045.
