Miners Alley Playhouse has hired its first director of marketing and audience development, according to a news release.
Leslie Rutherford, a resident of Golden for six years, will be responsible for the design and implementation of all fundraising and development activities, along with all marketing and communications initiatives.
Rutherford was marketing director and PR director at Town Hall Arts Center in Littleton for 11 years, and she has more than 20 years of experience working in the arts in the Denver area, including stints with Denver School of the Arts, Arts to Zoo, the SCFD and Opera Colorado.
“As an active part of the theater community in the Denver area, I am thrilled to join Miners Alley Playhouse,” Rutherford said in the release. “Theater has been a huge part of my life - seeing it, participating in it, and encouraging my children to participate in it. Having the opportunity to promote the mission of Miners Alley Playhouse and invite others to support our community in this way is a privilege.”
Rutherford joins Miners Alley Playhouse at the perfect time, Len Matheo, executive director at the playhouse, said in the release.
“Since we took over in 2013, we have taken MAP from a $360K company to a $660K company by the end of 2018. With this kind of explosive growth, we needed someone with the right personality and experience to add to our team in order to take us to the next level,” Matheo said in the release. “Leslie fits perfectly in that role. Her marketing savvy and her ability to connect our mission to our donors makes her the perfect fit.”
Miners Alley Playhouse was founded as Morrison Theater Company, and now is based in downtown Golden, at the newly restored theater above Foss Drug. The award-winning professional theater presents live theater, musicals, comedy, improvisation, and classes.
