MolsonCoors hosts annual Clear Creek cleanup

From a cell phone to an 8-track — not to mention lots of flip flops, sunglasses and athletic balls — those who worked on the efforts of cleaning up Clear Creek on Sept. 26 found a lot of random objects. In total, about 150 people volunteered for MolsonCoors' annual river cleanup.

Downtown Golden gets about 350 thousand visitors each year, and that includes people who come for Coors Brewery tours, said Theresa Worsham, Golden's sustainability director.

“This event every fall helps us catch up with the impacts of tourism and keep our city clean,” Worsham said.

And for Coors, it's about being a part of the community, said Craig Poupore, the Coors Brewery's vice president of Golden valley operations.

“It involves water, which is critical to our business as well as the greater Colorado community as a whole,” Poupore said. “Anything we can do to help improve the future for both the community and the company is beneficial for all.”
