Hats off to George Stern. I didn’t vote for him in 2018 and don’t agree with him on all (or even most) policy areas, but after seeing his response article in last week’s issue, you can be sure I respect him.
In a time where local politics is vastly overshadowed by national, and direct community engagement is seen as quaint, George chose outreach and humility over outrage and hubris in addressing the concerns of a dissatisfied constituent. If that’s not American democracy at its
finest, I don’t know what is.
