With COVID-19 putting the kabosh on in-person events, the race to fill the open Ward 4 city council seat is going digital.
On April 7, Golden United and Leadership Golden will host a virtual forum with the two candidates for the seat that was opened after Laura Weinberg was elected mayor: Bill Fisher and Stacy Fowler.
Fisher is a registered nurse who represented Ward 4 on the council from 2008 to 2014. Fowler has lived in the city for the last 24 years.
This event will have short statements by the two candidates followed by question and answer sessions. Questions will be presented from community organizations and by residents. Residents can send questions for the candidates by March 31st to email@example.com. There will only be an opportunity for questions that are submitted prior to the event to be asked.
Residents can register to attend the event at GoldenUnited.org. Those who register will be contacted with details about how to access the virtual event.
The special election to fill the seat will take place on April 27. It is a mail-in ballot election. According to the city’s COVID-19 webpage, the city will address if there is a need for absentee ballots before the election.
