What makes you the best choice for this office?
My background as a professional civil engineer and a 2-term Jefferson County Commissioner has provided me the professional experience to best represent the constituents of HD25. My proven leadership to address the wildfires, floods, financial shortfalls, and transportation needs in Jefferson County during my term as commissioner is exactly what we need from our next HD25 representative. I am that representative who listens to both sides or an argument and is willing to build coalitions for the betterment of the community.
If elected, what would your top issue be?
When elected I will focus my first term efforts on the health, safety, and economic well-being of HD25, Jefferson County and the State of Colorado due to the COVID pandemic. We need to work with all stakeholders to safely get employees back to work, to safely allow businesses to re-open, to stop the excessive fee and regulation increases, make budgetary plans that address current and future emergencies, and to prioritize our failing infrastructure.
If elected, what would you want to accomplish in order for you to consider the term a success?
I feel that to be successful as a representative you must listen to your constituents, talk to everyone on the issues, do the required work and research, and be approachable by community stakeholders.
Your view on efforts to change TABOR?
I support TABOR, the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, and feel that we as a state are better off for this constitutional amendment. TABOR is a tool that continues to keep government spending in check.
The Red Flag law went into effect this year. Has it been a good law, and would you change anything?
I have numerous concerns over the Red Flag Bill. The due process provisions, the constitutionality of the law, and the overall reporting provision that can be falsely applied are just a few of the issues I have with the bill.
